Who are we?

The Greater Benoni Child Welfare is a non profit organisation totally dependant on the support and funding by private and corporate donors and sponsors to supplement the inadequate funding from Government.

Our Objective

To protect and promote the interests, well being, safety and development of children within the context of family and community and to safeguard the rights of children through a holistic, intersectoral, developmental and comprehensive system of social services.

Society Profile


The Greater Benoni Child Welfare has been in existence since 1924.  The Society is a registered Non Profit Organisation (NPO 009660). Further we are a BEE rated organisation (Level 4 Contributor).

The main office is situated in Northmead, Benoni and a fully functional satellite office in Daveyton.  

The Society renders statutory services to any member of the community that falls in our area of service delivery that presents with a psychosocial problem.  Our caseload is currently 1782 families in Benoni and Daveyton.  The racial distribution of our beneficiaries as at the end of April 2016 was 96.72% African, 2.25% White, 0.61% Asian, and 0.42% Colored which is representative of the population of South Africa.  

Colin House, our Child & Youth Care Centre is also situated in Northmead, Benoni, and provides a safe haven for 20 children between the ages of 3 and 13 years, who are considered to be at risk within their home environment.
